Among the Marithei

Sold a story to Asimov’s!!! My second sale there, and I have to say, I’m just as thrilled as I was the first time. Woot woot! Another story in my Jump Space universe.  I can’t remember everyone who gave me feedback on “Among the Marithei” — probably my local Acorns writing group, certainly Jed Hartman and Alex Gurevich. […]

A Ramble

This is a ramble about my small businesses and making money. I had a long conversation with Kevin yesterday about what writing projects I should work on this fall. So many possibilities — I need to narrow it down to both a) what might pay well soon, and b) what’s interesting to me right now.

I Should be Fed Bonbons

I may have slightly mis-scheduled myself, because apparently my brain is convinced that I CAN’T POSSIBLY need to finalize my syllabi on the same day I finished writing my novel. I finished writing a novel today! I should by lying around being fed bonbons, yes? (I did eat quite a few of the Australian chocolates

Final Revisions Done

Liminal Space, a SF novel, final revisions done. Well, for this draft, anyway. 83,188 words. Off to my agent. Fingers and toes crossed. I even drafted a dedication today, although I can’t promise it will stay exactly like this if the book actually makes it to print. But for now, this is what I have.

It’s been a hectic week or so, between trying to finish the novel before the semester starts, getting ready for classes, and participating in two conventions this weekend. I haven’t had much time to think generally, since it’s been so task-focused (much braining), so it’s good to take a little time to review where I

End of Part Two

Clean-up pass progressing well, up to 56,000 words, end of Part Two. I don’t think there’s going to be much to change in Part Three (in part because I’ve now outpaced my beta readers and their time to do line edits for me). I’m honestly a little tempted to call it done and send it

We’ll See

More interruptions today than I anticipated, so I only managed clean-up revisions on 2 chapters instead of the planned 3. But still, done up through chapter 8, 27,380 words. Progressing. Will I be done before the semester starts? We’ll see.

I Love It

Oh, this is lovely — animator Brandon Hadnot sent along the first draft of a little video to open the Portolan Project interview videos, and it is so cool, I love it. I sent him back a few tweaks, but I think Brandon’s gotten remarkably close to my original brief already, and we’ll have a finished version

Hey, SF/F folks

I’ll have a confirmed schedule of what panels I’m on tomorrow, I think, but a quick note that NASFiC’s virtual convention is FREE this coming weekend, so register! Look at the schedule once it’s posted! Put lots of interesting panels into your calendar to attend! And readings! And music! It’s going to be fun. (NASFiC
