I assigned my creative writing students this week to view some of the Portolan Project modules and try doing a discussion question and a writing exercise from each. I think it went pretty well — I asked them just now whether they found them interesting, helpful, etc., and they did! Huzzah — proof of concept.
The funniest bit for me is the student who said that it was cool getting to hear famous writers talk about their own process, and it was also cool that their professor had gotten to talk with some famous writers.
I did not respond by saying “I am *also* a famous writer.”
Help me make lots more modules featuring actually famous writers!
(Who would be on your wish list? Tell me, and I might be able to make it happen. Living writers only, please.)
