Figured out how to make…
Figured out how to make a textured column go down the side; still need to get the width right. But now I'm not sure about the texture -- it's definitely prettier than just a solid color, but I'm having a hard time finding a text color that looks clean and readable on it. Thoughts?
Something odd here. I do not recall whether this happened with the solid color or not, but I don’t think so. I tend to read websites with the text somewhat enlarged. On this linked page with the textured left column, the text spills over into the white field, and looks a bit weird. If you enlarge the text a bit, you can no doubt see it, unless it is an artifact of Firefox.
Hmm…to make the textured background work, I had to switch the left column to a fixed-width column (rather than the previous fluid column) — so if you change the font larger, it’ll spill over now.
There’s a more complex fix that doesn’t have that problem, I think, but it may be beyond my design skills. I could just make the left column wider, but I don’t know how much I should do that…it’s not as if I can predict how big someone might choose to make the display…
I see you have fixed the problem. How did you do it, for curiosity’s sake?
