The squash soup turned…

The squash soup turned out very yummy, and the red bell pepper I used gave it a gorgeous orange color. Recommended, especially if you're drowning in squash. Kevin added a pesto-sourdough toast to the top of his bowl, and I promptly ate half of it because it was SO GOOD. I didn't watch him make it, but I think he just toasted a slice of sourdough and liberally spread it with pesto before dropping it into his bowl. Mmm....

Yesterday was mostly an errand-running kind of day. Had a frustrating time at Kinko's, where the CD I had burned some photos onto (for my parents) decided to die. But then, unexpectedly, I picked up some mango-habanero sorbet at Cooking Fools, so that made up for it. Got groceries, had a spree at The Container Store, which I like to call "the store of looooove." Little squeeze bottles for fancy sauce presentations, or for storing homemade vinaigrette. Little jars for giving away curry powder, which seems to happen often in this house. More tupperware, because our tupperware walks away regularly after brunches and dinner parties. A multi-pants hanger. A bulletin board. Oh, my life it is exciting. But these things, they really do give me great satisfaction. I think their store had signs that said something like, "Getting organized makes you happier." It is true. So, so, very true.

This morning, working until 11, then brunch with friends. Then come back here and work some more. I'm finishing up my students' comments, then either do some writing or churn through some more e-mail. I'm slowly (slowly!) working my way through the backlog. I don't know how I got so behind. I think when I have some piled up, and more comes in, I open it, read it, feel overwhelmed, and don't answer it. So I just get behinder and behinder.
