I’m sort of curious whether people liked Emma Newman’s Planetfall series — I just finished reading book four, so clearly I liked it enough to read a fair bit. It’s strong on a sentence, character level generally.
But overall, I think I found each book frustrating, especially the endings, and I’m not quite sure whether it’s in the same way or different ways or what exactly. I can’t remember the last time I was this puzzled by my reaction to a novel (or set of novels). Maybe never. V. odd.
