Favorite dishes from dinner last night (Shanghai Terrace) — the shumai topped with roe, the lobster dumplings, and the Peking duck. Yum yum yum.
After dinner, we ended up going back to George’s suite with him and his assistant, and we may have stayed up talking until past 2 a.m. Felt like being at a con again; I am a little groggy and tired this morning, but it’s so nice talking shop. Invigorating, inspiring. He’s so generous with his advice; I am very happy to be a young grasshopper, sitting at his feet and listening. But boy, Hollywood sounds like a tough, tough place.
I miss cons! I miss my people. Benjamin Rosenbaum, around 2 a.m. Roshani realized how late it was, and I explained to her that it was tradition at a con to spend at least one night staying up until 5 a.m., because the conversation with writer friends is just so great, at which point you start muttering something about “I really ought to get to bed,” but also “Maybe we should just stay up until they open for breakfast…”
