On the MSU Incident

I haven’t had any words for the terrible incident last night at MSU — the murder of three students and injuries to several more — but I know a lot of my community have connections there, including all of the SF peeps who went to Clarion there, not to mention the local parents who have students there right now.

Just bearing witness to your trauma and grief.

A special holding-in-my-heart to Jessy Rae, who as a local elected official, is bearing the brunt of many people’s grief and anger.

When you decide to run for local office, so often it’s to improve racial equity, or work towards sustainability, or improve conditions for low-wage workers, or hold the community accountable on accessibility.

And of course, you know there will be many other components to serving in office, but…

…nothing can prepare you for this.
