Desire for Realism Vs. Design Aesthetic Issues

Editing to note: I closely copied these rabbits’ outlines from other artists’ images. In this step, I wanted to focus on making the color more coherent across a surface design.

Various of the critiques commented that some of the darker clothing elements were too dark, and stood out. I’ve tried to address that somewhat, and I think it’s better (on left), though it was also a little tricky because I wanted to maintain some darker fur tones, and darker green options for some of the leaves, and then there’s the spade, which really just should be dark…

…I think my desire for realism was bumping up against my design aesthetic issues; ah well. 🙂
