Morning, folks. At O’Hare, heading to CT to help my parents with some legal / medical / financial stuff.
This is your reminder to set up a power of attorney and a living will; should you be incapacitated (which can happen to any of us at any moment, through accident or illness), it will make life much easier for your relatives. If you’re married, that gives your partner some ability to do things, but not as much as you might think.
This is a reminder to me too — Kev and I set up healthcare power of attorney and did living wills long ago (very easy to do with online forms), and we’re now legally married, which adds some protections, but we never did a regular power of attorney, which might end up helpful. Another thing to add to the to-do list for the fall.
(As a side note, I am 1 of 500 people at O’Hare wearing a mask. Rough estimate, not exaggerating. And yes, I know my mask was slipping here; I fixed it after taking the photo, but I was trying to walk backwards and take a selfie at the same time, without slowing anyone else down…)
