Hitting the road back to New York and the airport.
I knew it was going to be a medley of musical songs; I didn’t expect the gender-bending and queer takes on several of them. I had fun, and Kavi did too.
The opera house was v. posh! I think this is the first time I’ve been to a live performance in two years. A little surreal. They checked everyone’s vaccine cards before people were allowed in, and everyone stayed masked.
A half-bottle of wine shared with my youngest sister at the hotel after dinner was done, Kavi waiting with the bags the next morning while I hunt for the car key (found it!), my sister Sharmila at Thai lunch with the ladies, me and cousin Dharshini.
Seven of the nine siblings were able to be there Saturday night. My sisters and I might have sung a song. Eep. I think Amma had some good moments at her 70th.
Anand didn’t quite make it to dessert.
