Four children visiting ours for playdate this afternoon with kiddie pool and sandbox. My plan is to hang out in the living room, keeping an ear out for them, and keep writing. Worked reasonably well last week; we’ll see how it goes. As long as they don’t fight too much.
So far I’ve had to go out once to remind a child, quite firmly, that he is not to use water guns on anyone who a) doesn’t have a gun and b) doesn’t want to be sprayed. I have declared loudly to the entire group that if I hear another complaint, I will take all the guns away.
If only I had that power more generally.
