The next Kriti planning…

The next Kriti planning meeting will be at my place, Thursday 9/23, 7 p.m. If you live in Chicago and have an interest in South Asian American lit, please consider coming by. Drop a line if interested, and I'll send you the address. Details on the project below:

We are currently planning Kriti (creation), a fall 2005 Chicago literary festival celebrating the work of South Asian and South Asian diaspora writers in the genres of fiction, poetry, drama, and creative nonfiction.

If you'd like to help out, but don't live in Chicago, you can still join our planning list -- we'd be happy to have your input. Join by sending an e-mail to sapaclit-subscribe@yahoogroups.com.

Kriti will be a three-day event featuring South Asian writers reading and discussing their work. The festival will include readings, workshops, panel discussions, and speeches from our Guests of Honor. In addition, we hope to offer perspectives from academics and a dealer's room where local bookstores, artists, businesses, and organizations can showcase their material. We will also include evening activities, such as theater performances from groups such as Rasaka and Mango Tribe, traditional South Asian dance performances, an open bhangra dance, and an open mic.

Kriti is a project of DesiLit.
