Brief update: Nice…

Brief update: Nice lunch Friday with Z/S, followed by kind help with CD-stuffing. Very pleasant dinner with South Bay crowd. Went very well. (Chopped 8 lbs. of onions while cooking! New record for one meal, I think.) Saturday lazed about, longish talk with Kev in afternoon, mostly about new story working on (protagonist is professor at U of C, so K was quite helpful). Also talked me into coming out to visit weekend after next. Current plan, return to Salt Lake on a Monday, fly to Chicago that Thursday, fly back to Salt Lake next Monday, fly to New Orleans that Wednesday (for AWP). Not spending a weekend at home until mid-March? Something like that...

Must admit to slight apprehension to be visiting Chicago; first time since break-up. Not sure really ready. Will cross fingers and hope.

Saturday also went to Kam's concert, very lovely. Very impressed to hear her singing in public, and a really heart-warming set of songs, fun and cheerful and sweet and such. Pleased! Ethiopian dinner afterwards in Campbell. Food tasty, but extremely slow. And...

...got exceedingly sick this morning. All sorts of icky GI difficulties at some ungodly hour of the morning, accompanied by cold sweats and dizziness. Ick ick ick. Not sure if sick or food poisoning or just ate too much or what. Did doze a little more eventually, and Jed kindly kept putting clever songs on to keep me company (sweet Jed!), and was feeling recovered enough that managed brunch with Z/S and Susan and Jed at Hobee's. Had toast and fruit and juice and a bite of Jed's food. Seemed okay, but didn't feel up to original plan of driving down to Monterey, so sadly forced to cancel. Two hours each direction in car just didn't seem wise. Instead, took Z/S (or they took me) to Palace of Fine Arts (took photos) and Exploratorium. Much fun. Will put up photos soon, after editing. Maybe tomorrow. Then had dinner and they dropped me at David's. Feeling kind of wobbly now. Going to bed. Have finally remembered to reset time on journal to correct time zone. Yay!
