I stopped by my post office box yesterday -- what treasures! A card from an unnamed senior gentleman, who avoided any mention of his name whatsoever, but did include a lovely long letter. Thank you. I suspect he is in Seattle, due to the image on the card, but even that is not certain. A card from Tim (no last name, no e-mail) in Hawaii, along with a little paper Hawaiian ornament; very charming. It is hanging in my sunroom, above my computer. And Chip and Shannon sent me a CD they burned of various bands and their bagpipe music. It's a little early to play that right now (don't want to wake downstairs neighbors), but I'm planning on working to it today -- thanks, guys! That P.O. Box was a wonderful idea. Who knew?
I'm going to need the support -- today is paper crunch day. I did finish my grading yesterday, and I got a decent start on the paper -- there are about six coherent pages. But I really ought to add another ten or so. I don't have anything else real scheduled today -- Paul, Marcia and Carol are stopping by for a brief lunch/exchange of gifts, and I need to clean up the apartment and pack, but basically, what I gotta do today is write a paper. I can do that, right? It'll sound semi-coherent, right? Fingers crossed.
I'm suddenly starving. I'm gonna go have some tea and munchies; will probably check in later...
11 p.m. Well, I didn't expect later to be quite so much later. I also didn't think I could fill so many hours with cleaning, packing, paying bills, etc. I *have* spent a little time writing my paper, but not enough. Once I finish this, I'll be going back to this. On the plus side, I finished going through the Spivak, which was dense, and I only have a little Bhabha left before I finish the critical analysis, and can just talk about my position as a writer, which should be much smoother. I hope. I'm really just procrastinating now. I'm gonna go back to work...
