Mother’s Day 2023

I don’t take Mother’s Day very seriously as a holiday — it’s never been one I get emotional about, and I don’t really care if the kids or Kevin do anything for it. (On my birthday, on the other hand, I expect a great fuss to be made over me…) I spent a few hours […]

On a Pile of Chaos

Kev and I went into the garage to start working on organizing it, and found Arya perched happily on a pile of chaos. It’s often funny to me, where he chooses to nest. This pile is no longer there — it’s all much more neatly organized now, whew. I slept badly last night, sigh, probably

A Weekend To-Do List

Feeling scattered and overwhelmed, making a to-do list for the weekend: – call my dad and check in on him (he had a bad dizzy episode a few days ago, but seems to be doing okay now, thankfully, but maybe, at 80, it’s time to cut back a little more at work…) — DONE! –

Chugging Along

Sometimes I add tasks in the middle of my to-do list, which is maybe not the most efficient way to go about it, but the shed was very grubby after a winter of disuse and it was making it hard to concentrate, so I’ve been slowly cleaning it in between other things. It’s warm enough

I Am Tulip

This tulip is me, being determinedly cheerful although I am very tired and curling at the edges — good library event last night, but a long drive there and a long drive back, and I think I may be old and tired enough that I should stop scheduling evening events far away on days when

Major Desi Mom Points

I feel like I get major desi mom points today, because I voluntarily took Kavi shopping on Devon, and managed to find her a sari she loved (four sari shops, two hours), despite my not speaking any of the languages any of them spoke. (I think mostly it was Hindi, but am not sure. Didn’t

Motivating Help

Taxes filed, with the motivating help of this lovely paté that Roshani brought me back from Paris. V. nice on TJ’s rosemary-raisin crackers, paired with Divina’s chili-fig spread. Now, a glass of red wine to finish it off…

Extending Our Family Visit

Brief update; we had originally planned to go home today, but have extended the familycare visit to Tuesday. Continued thanks to Jed for extending his visit to watch our kids — they’re old enough to be left alone for a night (which we’ve done once), but we’re just not comfortable leaving them alone for longer
