A Weekend To-Do List

Feeling scattered and overwhelmed, making a to-do list for the weekend:

– call my dad and check in on him (he had a bad dizzy episode a few days ago, but seems to be doing okay now, thankfully, but maybe, at 80, it’s time to cut back a little more at work…) — DONE!

– give away Intex pool & pool stuff — DONE!

– reschedule brunch with Lori — DONE!

– schedule brunch with Carollina, Amanda and Roshani — DONE!

– get family to help organize & clean garage — DONE

– finish planting bulbs and perennials in back garden (I think it’s safe to get the glads and dahlias in the ground now, and I’d like to start mulching by Monday, so it’d help to get all the planting done this weekend — also, it’s supposed to rain later today and tomorrow, so planting before the rain is ideal) — DONE!

– go to Home Depot and get more sod — second round DONE! One more to go.

– figure out all the WisCon plans (Dan, I haven’t been able to even think about this until now, fyi…) — IN PROGRESS

– figure out what cardio exercise I’m doing today & do it

– call Jed and check in on him (maybe on the way to Home Depot, see below)

TIME-SENSITIVE GARDEN:

– collect redbud blossoms and make syrup to use in treat boxes — I want to experiment with redbud marshmallows — started collecting, but want to get a lot more and make a big batch; this one is time-sensitive, because the blossoms will fall soon, alas

– finish planting bulbs and perennials in front garden

COMPUTER WORK:

– respond to at least 20 e-mails

– scan and send SLF tax docs to Darius

– find new tax filer for SLF (deadline May 15)

– revise opening of Liminal Space

– send Liminal Space to a few agents (note that I also have two other novels ready, both the start of series, one fantasy and one SF)

– start June Patreon story (and post about how that’s going)

*****

If I have time (all of this can wait until Monday):

– prune forsythia back so I can see more of the flowering garden from my writing shed

– experiment with the dandelion syrup I made to see how it does in marshmallows (dandelion marshmallows! I kind of love it)

– finish raking back garden beds

– clear up fire pit area (brush cushions, pour boiling water on weeds in gravel (is that the best approach?), pull weeds, rake gravel, add more of the rounded gravel that’s easier to walk on)

– get family to help putting away winter coats and setting up mudroom area for spring / summer

– prune dead branches off roses

Okay, feeling a little less overwhelmed. Onwards.
