Campaing Fund-raising

Okay, so here’s some campaign fund-raising thoughts:   1) library board campaigns have traditionally not done a ton of fund-raising locally; usually they just do some yard signs, maybe some flyers, nothing too expensive   2) this year’s campaign in Oak Park has ten people running for four spots, and is the most contested campaign […]

Campaign photo

I need to pick one, eep!  Now which one looks most library board-ish?  Thanks to Jontisha Graves of What Once Was photography for these! As always, a delight to work with her.

Hidden Figures

Hidden Figures may be a perfect movie. It was certainly the perfect movie for me to watch today, a day I started out heartsick, enraged by the Republican senators who last night voted to destroy the healthcare of veterans, children, mothers — over 26 million Americans of all kinds. Candidate Forum

Fascinating time at the Suburban Unity Alliance-sponsored Candidate Forum hosted at the library tonight.  Despite pouring rain, thirty candidates for local office (library board, school board, village management, park district, etc.) showed up, and about fifty voters who wanted to hear what we had to say for ourselves.  Each candidate got two minutes to introduce

January Politics

Looking ahead to political activities in my calendar (which are now coded pink, which makes them pop out nicely). Between now and the end of January, I have:   – meet with Theresa Mah (IL state rep.), Don Harmon (IL state senator), and Davd Seleb (our library’s executive director)   – attend Suburban Unity Alliance

Campaign account

Quick note that I have now opened a campaign bank account, but there are a few more steps before I can take donations — I need to send the bank a letter outlining the purpose of the account (just a few brief lines) and get a note from the Village Clerk that I’m actually a
