Finally dragged myself out of bed, took baby, sat down in chair, swaddled him, sang a little, gave bottle, and Anand fell almost instantly asleep -- he was clearly exhausted. Kevin bewildered and frustrated, since he did exact same thing for three hours with no good results. Poor him. Poor Anand. Poor me.
By this point, I was wide awake and hating my life. Came downstairs, watched an episode of Army Wives (totally cheesy, but I think the military base culture is interesting and might be good research for a novel I have in mind for future -- well, not real research, since I have no idea how accurate the show is, but a starting point, in any case). Thought about YA fantasy novel some, jotted down some notes. Fell asleep on couch around 2:30, slept 'til 5:30. Anand woke up; gave bottle and he went back to sleep. But since then I've been up for the day, so been getting some work done -- e-mails to students, etc.
I think I may need a nap later in the day. The only thing I have to do is a brief meeting with our architect to review the electrical plans. (Seriously, how many cable tv outlets do we need? He has one in almost every room. The kitchen? Really? My office??). Oh, plus a pile of fast (quiz) grading, maybe two hours of work. Since I've been working pretty much non-stop all weekend, I think I'm going to call today an official day of rest, and spend at least three hours lying in bed, reading or napping. Maybe that will let me get through this final week of classes.
