We arrived yesterday evening at our writing retreat, at Harbin Hot Springs.
I’ll be able to post limited photos, as a lot of the site is no-tech, because it’s clothing optional, and they want to be sure no one is taking photos of nekkid people. (It’s so no-tech that you’re not even supposed to use Kindles, at least outside your own bedroom, so bring a paper book or two!)
It also has almost no signal, except at the main restaurant, so I’m mostly going to be offline for the next two days. Got a lot of good writing work done today(one more clean up pass on the Russ essay this evening and I think I’ll send it in tomorrow), also spent a lot of time in the water. There are hot, cold, cool, warm, silent, and probably other pools I haven’t discovered yet.
Dinner was very good last night; we all had the chicken lemongrass soup, and Alex and I split the seafood linguine. Some of the rooms have full kitchens; ours don’t have stoves, but Alex’s room does have a fridge and microwave, so we’ve brought groceries for breakfasts and lunches, which is working well.
More tomorrow. But hey — anyone know if it’s our Ellen Klages who wrote this guide to Harbin they were selling?
