Kevin helped me run some numbers yesterday, and it looks like a scone with clotted cream and jam, if you go light on the cream, is about 400 calories. We're not sure about the finger sandwiches, or the fruitbreads. I figure I should assume that I'm going to be eating 800 calories between 2-3 p.m. today, and plan the rest of the day accordingly. So I've had buttered toast and tea so far today (100 calories), which leaves me 400 for dinner. Light, but manageable, especially if I have a big salad. Definitely not even close to the many little meals ideal, but I just don't think those are compatible with eating out. Or at least not eating out tea and scones and cream and preserves and fruitbrad and finger sandwiches yum yum yum.
I could've said no, you know. But oh, I love high tea.
I promise not to talk about this stuff all the time; I'm just slightly obsessed at the moment, and the lack of my own computer is keeping me from working on various things that I'd really like to work on. But the foundation stuff is chugging along nicely, with press releases sent hither and yon and some new members signing up. So that's good. We have about 30 members now, which brings in $900. You may have noticed that we're giving out a thousand dollar award? I'll cover the small deficit if I need to, but I don't think it'll be too hard to come up with four more members by June 1st. A few more than that would be good, since there'll be some administrative costs associated with the award (basically reimbursing Karen for mailing copies hither and yon to the judges). So sometime between now and June we might want to do a little membership drive -- but actually, I'm hoping not. If a few more people just trickle in, that'll do us fine for the moment. I have a sort of internal goal of 50 members by the end of 2004, which really doesn't sound like a lot, but is enough to cover our initial costs nicely. If we can get 100, then we can put some money in the bank and start making plans for other projects. Exciting!
I, for one, find the exercise/ calorie counting entries very interesting. But then, I’m in a similar boat 🙂
