Just learned that Eric Flint, author of alternate histories and humorous fantasy, died yesterday.
I didn’t know Eric well, but we saw each other often at conventions, and he was kind and welcoming to me, even when I was a baby writer. He did a lot of early work in pushing for DRM-free ebooks, with the Baen free library and elsewhere, and he worked for years as a labor union organizer.
The SF world is hurting today — my feed is flooded with sad posts. Eric clearly touched a lot of lives, for the better.
