Artist trading cards — I missed a few days, but I did two on the plane, so that makes up for it a bit. One was a zentangle — I finally got the 01 micron pen they recommended, and I do kind of love the precision it offers. But I have to say, it’s not so easy to do precise lines when the plane is jiggling, as it mostly was. And I’m not sure I really have the patience to do a lot of precision anyway. I am not destined to be an inker, I’m pretty sure.
Still, glad I experimented, and while I’m not sure I’m ever going to be enthused about any of my zentangles as separate pieces of art (I’ve liked others’ quite a bit, but mine, not so much), I do find them useful for thinking about and trying out different techniques, thinking about balance and white space, etc.
I found the other piece I did on the plane much more satisfying. Working off a photo I took in Sri Lanka — the stone elephant shop. 🙂 I think it might even work its way into a story (graphic novel?) I’ve been noodling with.
