Yesterday, Kavi wore her elephant hat to school. Apparently, her teacher was pretty impressed with it, because today, Kavi insisted on wearing her owl sweater (for the first time) AND her elephant hat. Ms. P. has told Kavi that she would like Kavi's mommy to knit *her* something. Kavi is ridiculously pleased by this, and I am ridiculously pleased by Kavi's happiness. But she does now want me to knit her gloves, and a dress, and legwarmers, and socks, so she can be head-to-toe dressed in hand-knits by Mommy. I warned her that might take a while. A year or two, possibly. By which point, she'll have outgrown the sweater
This sounds like a perfect time to begin teaching Kavya to knit herself!
