Summer Reading #10:…
Summer Reading #10: Malinda Lo, Huntress. Quick review on this one -- I picked it up because I loved Ash so much, and I enjoyed this, but it didn't grab me quite as much. It felt less mysterious and more straightforward. But a pleasurable read, and it was refreshing to have a female-female romance central to a YA fantasy novel (especially while also not being the whole point of the novel). From talking to Malinda, I also know that she meant there to be Asian elements to the world-building, but I agree with her that they aren't so visible right now; she's currently planning to bring that out more in future books. I'll keep reading!
