Arrived at the hotel.

Have a really nice window in my room with a great view. I plan on spending a fair bit of time in that room over the next few days, working on some writing, so that will be nice.

I haven’t settled down to writing yet, though. I made a new friend, Jeremy Lassen, and he deftly guided me to a Thai restaurant where we had quite tasty food and a fair bit of conversation about the nitty-gritty aspects of the SF/F industry, along with a vibrant political debate (we’re in alignment on goals, I think, but disagree on methods….). Nice way to start out the convention.

Then I came back, took a quick shower (it is very humid here right now, and I got really sweaty walking around!), and then took my books down to the Larry Smith table in the dealer’s room, where Sally is kindly selling them for me.

I’m afraid I was out of hardcovers of Feast — I’ve ordered more to be shipped to my house, but I didn’t have any to bring! I brought one hardcover of Vegan, some paperbacks, and then copies of the two new cancer books, Tornado and Perennial. She already had copies of The Stars Change (science fiction), so those are there too (not pictured in this photo). I encourage convention attendees to buy copies and bring them to the mass autographing session for me to sign tomorrow night! 🙂
