Patreon Advice Wanted

Good morning, peoples. Advice wanted from readers & writers!

So, I have a pretty urgent need to amp. up the writing cash flow around here if I want to keep paying my staff (who keep me sane with managing social media, designing books, etc. and so on, so I can focus on writing and making). Unfortunately, I’m in a big lull between Kickstarters, grants, etc, and money is v. tight. (We’ll probably be doing a Kickstarter for Gluten-Free Serendib in March or April, just fyi.)

One area I’m trying to focus on is figuring out how to make my Patreon more attractive to people, thinking about what I can offer that would be interesting, value for money, etc. Serialized novels, for example? Short stories sent out via e-mail? Behind-the-scenes writing blog notes? Poems?

To that end, it’d be super-helpful if I had a list of writers who are doing well with using Patreon — writers who have tons of supporters, who bring in a lot of cash, and/or folks who give *you* good value for your pledge, etc.

I’m not sure how to compile such a list, other than to ask here. Suggestions?

Thoughts welcome! This is just the big brainstorming post; there’ll probably be some more specific asks later this week, once I narrow things down a bit.

(This message brought to you from the guest room bed, where I am working on this very cold Chicago day, tucked up with the heated mattress and a fur blanket, looking out periodically at the library and sighing with how messy it is; I tried to crop out the mess in this photo and only mostly succeeded…)
