Reading Through the Fiction Categories in the Hugo Voter Packet

For the first time, I think I’m going to try to read through at least the fiction categories in the Hugo voter packet, so I can feel like I can actually vote in them.

Read the short stories yesterday, and while they were all enjoyable to me, two of them stood out — Jose Iriarte‘s “Proof by Induction” (though I’ll be curious to see if my mathematician husband makes it through the story — he tends to find representations of mathematicians a little painful) and Catherynne Valente‘s “The Sin of America”.

Linking them both below, for your reading pleasure.

Full list of nominees:

“Mr. Death”, by Alix E. Harrow (Apex Magazine, Feb 2021)
