Quick note that I’ve registered for ICFA (International Conference on the Fantastic in the Arts Arts), and am looking forward to it! Nisi Shawl is Guest of Honor this year, woot, and Farah Mendlesohn is Guest Scholar! I’m looking forward to Farah’s Guest Scholar talk at the Friday luncheon. I’m also looking forward to hanging out with writers and academics at the poolside bar.
Orlando in March is always a very nice break from Chicago in winter, and Kevin has given me permission to stay an extra day or two this time for some writing retreat, since our university’s spring break is happening right after, and I don’t have to be back immediately to teach — I might take a day to go visit the Everglades again, perhaps. It’s been a long time since I last went.
This is the academic conference for science fiction and fantasy, and I’m hoping to interview some folks there, as well as talk to lots of academics about the Portolan Project. I’m presenting about it on Saturday, so if you’re attending, do swing by! If I get my act together, we might even have cute bookmarks to hand out.
