Knitting Question

Let’s say I wasn’t really paying attention, and I did a border to my cowl that’s twice as wide (at least) as what it was originally meant to be. I’ve now done much of the body of the cowl, so I could finish it up again soon, which means doing another border, which means I have to decide if I’m going to match my overwide border or not.

So my question is, is there any chance I can undo several rows of border from the BEGINNING of my knitting, without disaster? And if so, how would you go about it?

And if it’s going to be a lot of work or risk, I’m probably just going to live with the too-wide border, because it’s a cowl, and precision is not that important. But curious minds want to know.
