I will unabashedly remind you all that The Stars Change is eligible in the novella category for the Hugo (
nominations are now open). This is my FIRST SF work eligible for a Hugo (well, aside from Strange Horizons, which is a different beast altogether). I find that ridiculously exciting, and would genuinely be thrilled just to be nominated.
What would I rather get, a Hugo or a mainstream literary prize? Hopefully I never have to pick. But I'll note that the Hugo is the only major awards ceremony I've been to, more than once, which perhaps indicates where my heart truly lies
