I admit, I'm a little cranky to realize that my Kickstarter-funded book will not qualify me for SFWA membership. It doesn't even come close to meeting the criteria for readership, at least initially, so I don't really have any grounds for argument. But I did get paid quite reasonably for the work, so it 'feels' pro-level.

Ah well. I don't think SFWA should revise its guidelines to accommodate my quirky individual self-publishing / crowd-publishing / small press-publishing project. It's just in the midst of all this PR mess, I kind of wish I could be in the midst of it, actively helping SFWA sort this stuff out. My friends in the org are doing yeoman work, and I'm sorry I can't be of more help.

I should just go write some short stories and try to sell them to pro markets already.
