The DesiLit Chicago book club has been meeting monthly for more than six years (under the terrific leadership of Sital Shah, Sheetal Shah, Jay Deshpande, Linda Groetzinger, and Ria Vengurlekar), and we're delighted that it's been such a great part of our community. But for those of us who live in the western suburbs, getting into the city can sometimes be challenging.
So Surinder Nand and I will be starting up a new branch of the book club, meeting in Oak Park and River Forest. The first meeting will be at my home (easily accessible by subway, Metra, and with a good amount of free street parking within a block or two). Some refreshments will be provided. Later meetings may rotate among members' homes, or sometimes meet at the Oak Park library.
We're tentatively planning to have our first meeting in April, and will be discussing Abraham Verghese's Cutting for Stone. Exact date and time are TBD.
