Now that…

Now that Thanksgiving is over, it's time for many of us to start thinking about holiday gifts. And what could be a better gift than a book? And not just any book, but my book! Bodies in Motion -- a book full of love and passion, family intrigue, mothers and daughters, fathers and sons, marriages and infidelities and random sexual encounters, a few of which are hot enough to make my mother-in-law blush. (But she did keep reading anyway. :-) Travel to Sri Lanka and back again, from the comfort of your favorite reading chair. And make me very very happy in the process.

Maybe you've read it (and loved it) already. But have your parents? Your siblings? Your children? Your third cousins twice removed? Your best friend? That cute girl you've been chatting up at work? The stranger sitting next to you on the bus, who lets you fall asleep on their shoulder every morning on your way to work, and never comments on the drool? Don't they deserve the gift of a book? A book whose stories "transcend time and space." I quote. From Time Out New York, in case you were wondering.

Now you may remember that some time back, the hardcover of Bodies in Motion was remaindered. Bad for the author, good for you. It means that you can now pick copies up on Amazon Marketplace for a penny plus shipping costs. I do encourage you to buy as many of those as you would like. Want a link? Here you go! Buy a book! Buy lots!.

Interestingly, Amazon is also selling the hardcover directly, at the original $22.95 price. I wonder how many copies they have sitting in their warehouse? If you have lots of money and don't know what to do with it, you could buy a few copies at that price, and make an author happy. Or if you like paperbacks, there's a lovely paperback edition still in print. Also editions in Spanish, French, Italian, German, Portuguese, and Serbian. Yes, I said Serbian. Don't ask me why, just be grateful with me. Yay, Serbs! So you could buy any of these editions new, if they strike your fancy. Don't let me stop you. Please.

But, I admit, when the book was remaindered, I couldn't bear to just let all those extra copies be pulped. So I bought a few hundred of them, and they're sitting in my apartment, and I would very much love to sell them to you, personally signed and inscribed to the recipient of your choice. We'll be leaving the Bay Area on Dec 15, which means we'll get to Chicago sometime between the 18th and the 20th. At which point I would be delighted to pick up a copy, lovingly inscribe it, and put it in the mail, hopefully for Christmas delivery. (Definitely by Christmas, if you want to pay for UPS Next-Day Shipping.) If you're interested, all you have to do is send me a note, telling me how many copies you would like and who I should inscribe them to, and I will gladly tell you where you can send your check (or use your credit card/PayPal, if you prefer). For just $10 + shipping ($4 in the U.S.) What a deal!

So many choices! So many ways to buy a book! For so many people! Just remember: Bodies in Motion, the only gift you'll ever need.
