Friday I did some gardening; most of my roses didn't survive the winter, I think because I didn't put them to bed properly in the fall. I'll try to do better this year. I have a few new ones now -- one color-changing climber in reds and golds, Joseph's Coat. Three hybrid teas, Whisper, a white rose, a red rose, and Rio Samba, a orange-yellow rose. Those will be great for cuttings to bring into the house through the season. Also got some smaller flowers to fill in beds -- million bells, a rambling heather, etc. Yay, flowers! :-) Soon, tomatoes and peppers, and some water-garden plants, and the base of my garden will be done. Not that I'm likely to be able to resist adding to it over the summer...
Friday eve, Kevin dragged me to Filter, and I finally did some writing. I think I've rewritten the first chapter to make Bob and Marjorie and other critics happy. More importantly, I think I'm happier with it too. :-) More to come.
Saturday, did some work, including household stuff. Finally put away umpteen loads of laundry that have been sitting and waiting, getting less and less patient, for some time now. Spent a while working on Fountain Award jury stories, trying to decide which I like best. I think I have a favorite now -- we'll see if the other jurors agree. In the afternoon, did a bit of shopping with my sister, helping her spend the gift certificate I got her last Christmas. We had lunch at a crepe place -- chicken and mushroom crepes, yum. :-) In the evening, Beth and David gave me a ride down to Aaron and Heather's place, where we had a small U of C folks shindig. It's always nice seeing old friends, and meeting their new friends...
Today, I'm supposed to rehearse with Satya at 11, but until then I think I'm going to goof off a little, maybe play World of Warcraft with Kevin. It's been months since I felt like I had enough time that I could afford to play, but after a long spate of craziness, life seems to be settling down again. Is good.
