A bit hectic this morning, getting ready to catch a plane to Iowa City. I've never been there before -- should be fun! To tide you over, here's something amusing -- two of the rejected photos from the Reader photoshoot. I liked them, so I talked the nice photographer guy into selling them to me cheap. So what do you think of a photo of a S. Asian female writer sprawling on a pile of saris -- interesting and exotic, blatant objectification and commodification of one's culture, or just plain goofy?

–None of the above. You just look relaxed and happy. May you spend more time relaxed and happy. I don’t much care for the top one. Your smile looks forced, somehow.
I loved the second one. It made me laugh!
Objectification? Here’s a relaxed, happy woman, a simple pleasing photo subject.
I go with answer a. you look comfy and pretty in that picture.
I have to go with interesting, exotic and, just a bit, delightfully goofy.
Not to mention lovely.
With all of love,
