I’m feeling behind on…

I'm feeling behind on everything other than the novel at the moment. There's a Kriti meeting Wednesday -- I need to do a bunch of things for that, mostly to do with setting up sponsorship info and sending an invite to Rohinton Mistry. There's SLF stuff to do, primarily writing up last year's annual report, to send out to the members. Both of those need to happen this week, especially since next week I expect to be busy reading the material from my Vermont students and writing up responses.

And there's just a bunch of really random stuff on my to-do list, from buying groceries (we're down to angelhair pasta and zucchini) to looking at exercise machines (we're considering a Schwinn treadmill or elliptical machine, which we don't really have room for in the apartment, but the aerobic exercise has fallen sadly by the wayside since I let my gym membership lapse -- it's too cold for me to motivate to go out unless I absolutely have to). I need to make some curry powder and send it out to the people who won it in the Vermont College scholarship auction. I need to call Marjorie and discuss my summer travel schedule, which is looking increasingly complicated, between BiM promo tour and going to Banff with Kevin (who's going for a math conference) and maybe running SH workshops, etc.

And I just registered for the WisCon art show, which means that what I have a sudden urge to do is abandon all of this and just make art, which I haven't done in months and months and months. My art supplies are getting sad and lonely. They are losing all their color and vibrancy, trapped in closed cabinets. They need air, and warmth, and love.

Maybe it's all the snow outside that's making me crave crazy delirious colors...

I suppose I could change the text of my manuscript to purple on orange, instead of plain black on white. :-)

  1. I just wanted to point out that Dance Dance Revolution is a good way to get cardio exercise and not have to go outside, plus you can put the pads away when you aren’t playing, so it doesn’t take up too much space.

Hey, great idea. I’ve added it to my Amazon wishlist, along with the pad, and will talk to Kev about it later today as an option. Certainly a lot cheaper than a elliptical or treadmill!

I’m not sure it’ll work for Kev — I think he’s a lot less likely to use it than he would a regular machine, since he’s normally pretty self-conscious about dancing. But maybe not — I really don’t know what he gets up to in the middle of the night when I’m asleep. 🙂

Ah, now we see Jed’s secret plan to get me to utterly destroy my hands and leave me dependent on the voice-software that he is secretly developing which will be far better than anything else out there and which will then make him a fortune because he will only sell it exclusively to very special secret people. I’m on to you, buddy!

  4. Does your condo association have a workout room? (or a room that could be turned into one?) I don’t use the one we have here all that often, but it is a nice feature of many large condo buildings – shared equipment etc.

Sadly, they considered it, and decided they didn’t want to deal with liability hassles, insurance, etc.
