I think this means that I've essentially finished the Ph.D.; my advisor is happy with my dissertation, all the little finicky requirements are done. I'll have a bunch of paperwork to do this fall, filing with the dissertation office, paying the university money to let me graduate, plus there's the formal dissertation defense, but I gather that that's generally a formality -- they don't let you attempt a defense until they think you're essentially ready to go. So, yay! I'll defend and graduate in the fall, and probably go out to Utah again in the spring to march in the ceremony, just so my parents have something tangible to look at. :-)
