Website Design Contest - Win $50!
December 7th Deadline
We're creating a new website for the Speculative Literature Foundation, a nonprofit organization devoted to the mission of promoting literary quality in speculative fiction, by encouraging promising new writers, assisting established writers, facilitating the work of quality magazines and small presses in the genre, and developing a greater public appreciation of speculative fiction. In service of that goal, we're looking for an attractive, simple design in keeping with our mission. The ideal design:
- would be simple and compatible with the widest possible range of
browsers (to aid us in serving a wide public constituency)
- would include a logo that would be easily reproducible in business
cards and other promotional materials, such as mugs and t-shirts
- should *not* be exclusively science fictional or fantastic, since the
foundation is designed to serve a wide range of speculative needs -- in
other words, either rocket ships or dragons are probably not what we're
looking for
Obviously, we're not able to offer anything like the compensation a professional web designer might expect; we hope that some artists/designers will be interested in the fun challenge of this project, and that they will take satisfaction in having the opportunity to help a worthwhile project get off the ground. We will, of course, offer design credit on-site to the winning designer, in addition to the cash prize.
Submit site designs by e-mailing the URL of your entry to director@speculativeliterature.org. The site is currently up and running, in extremely minimal form, at http://www.speculativeliterature.org, if you want to get an idea of some content you can use to fill out your design.
Please send contest entries by December 7, 2003.
Thanks,
