And even more excitingly -- we have comments! Woohoo, and a huge smooch to my darling dearest Jedediah for putting it all together! We'll probably be messing with layout and such some for the next few days, but it should all be pretty operational now, so jump right in! The water's fine!
Yay, comments!
WOO! Comments! I’ve been wanting you to have them for so long! Thanks, Jed. 🙂
You’re welcome, Jenn! Also, many thanks to Jenn and Kenny of JournalScape for letting me copy the general look-and-feel of their comments system.
Any way of implementing a feature in which one can see, say, the last ten entries to have gotten a new comment? ‘Cause, otherwise, I suspect it’s gonna be hard to keep track pretty soon…
Thanks for the reminder, Shmuel! This was on the original feature list but I had forgotten about it. Will implement sometime soon.
And/or possibly a feature to look at all the comments (or all entries with comments?) I could see that this could get pretty difficult pretty quickly…
Well, over time there will be a huge number of entries with comments, and an even larger total number of comments, so I think this probably isn’t practical. I suppose the search engine could be modified to search comments as well as entries; I’ll have to think about that.
True, but it can (and likely will) become somewhat a game of “find the comment…” – YACCS (which I use on my blog – though it is not that good) provides an interface for the admin that links to all comments – but nothing (as far as I know) for the comment writers to use…
In contrast, Quicktopics allows one to subscribe to a given discussion, and thus notifies you of new comments – but it does not have something that breaks comments down by entries. (Though the “document comments” comes close – but not quite) I like this interface however – very nice.
Woo! Good job, Jed.
