Re: publishing essays: Shmuel mentions Salmagundi
, out of Skidmore, which I have failed to find a web page for, despite extensive perusal of Skidmore's pages. Frustrating. The bio blurb in Shields's book mentions: The New York Times Magazine, Harper's, Yale Review, McSweeney's, Salon, Village Voice, Utne Reader, Threepenny Review
, and Conjunctions
, but that's for both fiction and essays, so I'm not sure which is which. I suppose the next step is to go check the guidelines for all of those. Sigh. This should all be easier, somehow. My brain is convinced of that, despite a lack of evidence to support the conviction.
Finished the Shields book, had some curry for lunch, trying to decide what to do next. I think I'll read a little more of Mike Jasper's novel -- I'm still not ready to immerse myself in Tristram Shandy.
