Well, I got a decent chunk of work done today, and I'm going to have to wait for Duncan's responses to my questions before I continue, I think. The problem with doing these revisions is that everything is so damn dependent on everything else -- I can't easily just make a bunch of separate revisions. I have to revise something, then follow all the paths to make sure they still make sense and see if anything else is affected before I do another revision. This is sort of true in any fiction, but because of the multiply branching paths, there's a lot of re-reading involved, and a fair bit of confusion. I had hoped to actually finish this draft today, so that I could send it out to y'all for comments and sense-checking, but I think it's going to end up being later in the week. And then it'll be the holiday and all, so everyone will be too busy to check it for me over the weekend. Well, we'll see how it goes. If I demand another week from Duncan for revisions, I think he'll give it to me. I'm not expecting this to be great literature, but I do want it to be charming, reasonably consistent in voice, fun, and make sense! The making sense is particularly tricky.
In other news, I've been reading news. Specifically, newsgroups again -- after the long conversation with Karina last night, which involved a fair bit of poly stuff, I felt sort of...umm...nostalgic, I guess. Conversations about relationship-dynamics can be so interesting, especially when it's all nice and abstract, not about some crisis you're actually in the middle of. So I wandered over to alt.polyamory (hey, Dan P., I think you might actually really like the conversations there -- they're perfectly friendly to monogamous people :-). Just posted a longish thingie about why it helps to respect your sweetie's sweeties (hmm...I suppose sweeties' sweeties would be just as accurate -- is there a way to indicate the potential plural of a possessive? For a non-possessive, you can do sweetie(s). But where would you put the apostrophe with the possessive form? Jed, help?!). Much fun.
I'm startling to feel anxious about the exam stuff; I think I'm going to grab one of those for a while. 'Til later, munchkins...
