I knew I’d find a way to…

I knew I'd find a way to procrastinate. After straightening up the bookshelves in my bedroom and sending off a package to Germany (SH t-shirts and a mug to Ruth Nestvold :-), I ended up submitting some stuff. Best Lesbian Erotica just extended their deadline, and while I'm not even positive they pay, it seemed worth some printing and postage to try to get another book on my ego shelf. :-) Anything unpublished or published in 2001-2002 is eligible, so I sent them "How It Started" (which will be appearing in Wet this summer), and "Letters to Kate". If they turn down "Letters", I may have to give up on this story, or at least workshop it -- it's been out several times and no one seems to want it. *I* think it's funny. Maybe I'm just wrong...

I'm also sending out some literary stuff -- "Monsoon Day" and "Sister Mary" to The Atlantic. Odds are slim, but it's worth a try. Normally, I'd send "Sister Mary" to The New Yorker first, but since they've got this new policy of only two subs a year, I suspect most of my subs aren't going to go there at all. Just not worth the wait...

I'm trying to figure out what to do with "A Gentle Man". I sent it to a slew of literary magazines last year, and I'm not quite sure where it should go next. I suspect what I ought to do is revise my literary magazine listing (as promised in the Rumor Mill), and that will make all clear. But that's yet another task, and not really as urgent as some of the things I'm successfully avoiding...
