In other news, finished revision of "Savitha". Really, none of these have been actual revisions, which is why they took less than an hour each. Just clean-ups, fine-tunings. It's somewhat more obvious to me what's wrong with "Savitha" at this point -- what's wrong is that not enough is obvious. The story is so oblique that it's utterly confusing. I know, I know. What I don't know is what else needs to be there. More incidents/scenes? More explanation? It would really help to know what you want to know. I, of course, know too much. I suspect that's going to become more and more of a problem as I go further into this book. I'm going to be desperately seeking new readers, who are willing to read the whole darn thing. Possibly readers who haven't read any of it so far. But that's really more for this summer, when I'm planning on writing new material. For this spring, my goal is to get these five workshop stories revised and out in the mail. I really ought to be publishing in those literary magazines, and I can't publish if I don't send the darn things out. Right now, I only have two stories out, I think -- "Monsoon Day" and "A Gentle Man". Seven would be a lot better than two.
Have to read and critique two stories for tonight's workshop; then will probably find a cosy corner and read some Due. I packed my laptop in case I felt like writing...but I don't think I feel like writing. I kind of feel like taking a nap, but that's probably not wise. I also want to go get some pizza, but we're going to avoid that too, at least 'til dinner time. It's just knowing the pizza is there, full of cheesy, tomato-y goodness, just a building away...
