Well, the first week of classes is over, and I think I passed with flying
colors. :-) I'm finding it much easier this time around -- less
nerve-wracking, and I feel like I actually know what I'm doing. I don't
think students realize how much of a difference it makes whether a
professor has taught the course before. I really understand the structure
of the course now -- I know which lectures I'll give when, and can plan
for them, and even occasionally foreshadow upcoming topics. It makes for
a much more integrated class. (On the other hand, I'm also teaching a new
class, which is almost as difficult as it was last semester. I'm a bit
more confident, though).
I do still need to finish my application; if I don't chicken out, I'll be
applying to the University of Utah Ph.D. program on Tuesday. Meep. The
less said there, the better, I think.
Jed arrives in about two hours and is staying 'til Monday night -- woohoo!
Lots of people coming over for brunch tomorrow, which should be fun. I do
need to do some work this weekend, but I think I'll try to do it in the
early mornings. Right now I just want to go home and take a nap -- I'm
sleepy!
