We’re still in the midst…

We're still in the midst of making all the links live, but I'm delighted to point you to the new SLF Travel Grant: "The Speculative Literature Foundation (SLF) is pleased to announce its first annual travel grant of $600, designed to assist writers (fiction, poetry, drama, creative non-fiction) in their research. The grant is designed to help cover airfares, lodging and other expenses involved in a research trip."

Those of you who heard me fretting all of last year over the difficulties in finding funding for my travel to Sri Lanka will understand where the impetus for this grant came from. :-) Luckily, I don't need the help anymore (and of course, I wouldn't have been eligible for a SLF grant in any case), but I'm really pleased that we're able to offer this for other writers. Long-term, I'd like to increase the award amount to $750, and offer a couple of them annually. I just have to coax a few more people into becoming members. :-) Members (who are non-voting) are eligible to apply for grants and awards; staff aren't.

One note -- some of you may have seen an early version of the press release, where the dates of travel were Sept/Sept. Note the change to a Sept 30 deadline for applications and Oct/Oct travel. We wanted to give people a little more time to apply, so we've moved the application dates.
