So, ready for the Coast Starlight tour? We got to the LA Amtrak station early, and it turned out that the mini roomette we’d booked entitled us to the Metropolitan Lounge.
I’m not normally a lounge person, because I tend to travel as cheaply as possible, but this was a nice surprise. We grabbed some complimentary snacks and drinks for the trip, which was nice — though I also bought myself a DELICIOUS burrito for breakfast from the cafe downstairs.
They have porters to help with your luggage, and they shuttle you over from the lounge to the train, which isn’t really necessary, but does make you feel taken care of.
If you’re someone who gets anxious about travel (or if you’re traveling with someone who gets anxious), and can afford to spend a little more, I could see this as a good option for alleviating anxiety.
