Benjamin Rosenbaum and I recently recorded a podcast with the fabulous Sofia Samatar, discussing her brilliant little novella, The Practice, the Horizon, and the Chain.
It’s simultaneously an excellent SF story and an incisive critique of traditional academic DEI practice — sometimes uncomfortable to read, given the kind of work I’ve often done, but well worth the discomfort. I liked it so much, I bought five more copies, to give to various people I know who work with DEI efforts. I think they’ll love it too. It’d make for terrific book club discussion.
