School board meeting was another short one today, only two and a quarter hours. End of the year, everyone is tired and therefore more efficient or at least full of fewer questions.
Harried day overall, with a doctor’s appt. jammed in with a bunch of other urgent & backlogged tasks. Blood draw was the most painful one I think I’ve ever had — she was a very nice young phlebotomist, but please, can I have the experienced one next time? I actually got light-headed and had to be plied with ice packs and juice and crackers before I was steady enough to be allowed out of the office, and my arm is still bruised and ouchy several hours later.
But on the plus side, the doc said I was her easiest and fastest patient of the day, so that was nice. Almost 53 and doing fine. I credit the gardening — lots of squats and lifts and bending, which has to be good for core strength. Although I did also start training with Liz Fairweather again last week; want to take some time this summer to really focus on long-term health. If I’m going to still be writing novels in my 90s, I’m going to need some serious stamina.
Tomorrow is mostly dealing with e-mail and hopefully finishing the last of the most urgent and back-logged tasks, cleaning up the garden, a little cooking hopefully, and hosting the OPALGA+ potluck. The weekend I’m working a shift at Sprout and otherwise trying to relax — the family may have some Mother’s Day plans for me, we’ll see. And then next week, summer writing starts. That’s the plan, anyway….
Pic of The Onion Roll, where I stopped after the blood draw and got some fortifying chopped liver, along with some lox and pastrami. They take credit cards now (a recent development), which is nice — I wasn’t carrying much cash, and so I ended up buying more than I could’ve otherwise. Their chopped liver isn’t as delectable as my curried liver, but it’s pretty tasty, and didn’t require any cooking on my part!
Also a pic of some pieces I poured yesterday and un-molded today. I’m kind of pushing on the resin stuff a little right now, because Mother’s Day and What’s Blooming fair are both coming up. Planning to slow down a bit after next week.
