Thanks to Devi Bhaduri for taking all these pics of me at the Tornado launch last night. This was my first time reading from the book, and it’s a little different from anything I’ve done before, reading from a memoir.
Reading nonfiction is sort of exposing in a different way than I’m used to? It’s fine, it’s fine, but an adjustment. I’ll do some more readings, will get used to it.
It’s a cancer memoir, but really not a downer, I promise. I only teared up a little once, and it wasn’t even from the reading itself, just my closing comments, when I was talking about how total strangers dropped off casseroles for my family during chemo.
Community, folks. We’re nothing without it.
