I was about to go to bed, and then I thought I should open the big box that had arrived, expecting it to be some house staple that Kevin had ordered, like cans of cat food and rolls of paper towel, but no — it’s my new book!
BOOK BOOK BOOK BOOK BOOK!!!!!
Tornado is a memoir of my breast cancer journey, entries that were posted live to Facebook as I went along. I’ve edited it a bit, but mostly, what you get is me, unadorned. Thank you again, to everyone who liked and hearted and sad-faced and commented on those cancer posts — you held me up in a hard time.
Huh — this is my first nonfiction book, I think (not counting the cookbooks). I started publishing in 1993 or so, so it only took 30 years…
Link to purchase (ebook, paperback, hardcover) in comments. The publisher (Riverdale Avenue Books) did a sort of soft ‘launch,’ so it’s actually available right now, but I’m planning to host some actual launch events in Chicago at least, possibly New York as well, probably in October (breast cancer awareness month). So stay tuned for those. If you want a signed paperback or hardcover, we should have them up in my shop soon — will post when it’s up.
Woot!
(There’s a thing writers say, when sucky things happen to us — “Well, maybe I’ll get a book out of it.” Here you go — here’s the book.)
